I am looking to get a dual view dash-cam given how many idiots there seem to be on the roads these days (and I realise that’s what others say about me).
Any recommendations, avoids or tips from you kind people?

I renewed my insurance last month and every provider i spoke with when i was getting quotes told me they no longer offer a dash cam discount. The rational they gave was that when they offered discounts not many people had dash cams, now loads of people have them so they pulled the discount.

NextBase are one of the best around. Get it from Halfords or any reputable car entertainment shop, and have them fit it. Get a rear and front view camera and inform your insurance company too as most give a discount on premiums once they are fitted.

Front only. I had a separate one in the rear running off rear aux socket.

A young lad side swiped me on the A41 a couple of years ago. Held his hands up and apologised profusely at the roadside. Later that evening his dad phoned me up and called me all the fing cs under the sun for driving like an idiot and crashing into his frightened little boy.
OK, I said, we'll see what the police say after viewing the dash cam footage.
I would have been shafted without the evidence, was over £4,000 with hire car charges.

Happy to accept I am a shit driver. But how does not having a dash-cam help help me convince either plod or my insurance company that when someone else was the shit driver and caused an accident that it wasn’t actually my fault?

I have a dual view/mirror dash cam. I even have a sound commentary on it and I can’t switch it off…….she sits beside me. 😂
